Breguet Unveils Its First Flying Tourbillon

Marking a historic occasion, Breguet has launched its inaugural flying tourbillon with the Classique Tourbillon Sidéral 7255. This release celebrates the brand’s 250th anniversary alongside the milestone of Abraham-Louis Breguet’s original tourbillon patent.
A Revolutionary Flying Tourbillon Design
The flying tourbillon differs from traditional models by supporting its rotating cage solely on a lower sapphire crystal bridge, giving it a mesmerizing “floating” effect. Conventional tourbillons use both upper and lower bridges, which this new design intentionally omits to enhance visual transparency.
Mysterious Complication Enhances Visual Appeal
Adding to its allure, Breguet has integrated its signature mysterious complication into the timepiece. This technique creates an optical illusion by connecting the rotating mechanism invisibly to the rest of the movement, resulting in an unobstructed and captivating view of the tourbillon in motion.
Exquisite Craftsmanship and Limited Edition
Produced in a limited run of just 50 units, the watch features a deep blue aventurine dial that beautifully contrasts with the mechanical intricacy of the tourbillon. Its 38mm case is crafted from Breguet gold, a proprietary alloy blending 75% gold with silver, copper, and palladium. The caseback is adorned with intricate Quai de l’Horloge guilloché patterns, underscoring the brand’s commitment to artisanal detail.
A Historic Tribute
June 26 holds special significance for Breguet as it commemorates the day in 1801 when Abraham-Louis Breguet was granted the patent for the tourbillon—one of horology’s most sophisticated complications. Despite pioneering this innovation, Breguet had not previously created a flying tourbillon until now, making this launch a notable first for the brand.
Gregory Kissling, CEO of Breguet, highlights that the model draws inspiration from the original tourbillon wristwatch introduced in 1990, further connecting this new creation to the brand’s rich heritage.
