G-Shock Merges Innovation and AI for the MT-G Collection

G-Shock’s MT-G collection takes a leap into the age of AI with the release of the MTGB4000, a carbon-fiber timepiece whose case strength and finish were optimized by generative AI. The result is a watch that blends human expertise with cutting-edge technology, retaining its renowned durability while reducing its bulk.

Two Models for a New Era

The MTGB4000 comes in two variations: the MTGB4000-1A, priced at $1,250, and the MTGB4000B1A2, which retails for $1,350. Both models feature a frame constructed from layers of carbon and glass-fiber, giving the watch an impressive layered appearance along its sides. The design incorporates an advanced Dual Core Guard system, which absorbs shocks before they can affect the internal module.

Design and Craftsmanship

The design of the MTGB4000 maintains the signature MT-G aesthetic. The watch features Sallaz-polished edges that catch the light, with a combination of hairline and mirror finishes that shift from gloss to grain. A sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating completes the dial, which is built in multiple tiers. The case-back, formed through metal-injection molding, not only enhances the sculptural depth but also ensures a 200-meter water resistance. The MTGB4000B1A2 is coated with a blue-grey ion-plated finish, evoking the look of twilight steel.

Features and Functionality

The MTGB4000 boasts several practical features. Tough Solar charging powers the module, while Multi-Band 6 radio ensures precise timekeeping. Bluetooth functionality, courtesy of Smartphone Link, allows easy adjustments, and Triple G Resist technology provides protection against shocks, vibrations, and centrifugal forces. The watch also includes a Super Illuminator LED to light the dial in low light conditions. Additional features include a stopwatch, countdown timer, alarm, and a world-time display for 27 cities.

Crafted with Precision

Manufacturing of the MTGB4000 takes place at Yamagata Casio, where some of the brand’s most complex models are created. While AI continues to influence design processes worldwide, G-Shock uses this technology to further the brand’s long-standing commitment to making watches that withstand the toughest challenges while maintaining aesthetic appeal.
